Steve Jobs once said, “It’s not the tools you have faith in, tools are just tools. They work or they don’t work. It’s the people you have faith in or not.”

Firstly, it’s important to define how management at Accsys see the difference between a tool and a solution.

Accsys is a member of the Business Connexion Group (BCX) and national supplier of people management software and hardware solutions within the HR, payroll and time & attendance space. The company provides businesses with a simple to use solution that is customisable to handle unique requirements.

Like any other discipline, HR has evolved, and is continuing to do so.

I asked Ngoni Munetsi, head of Accsys People Management Partners Division, for his input. The article below is his response.

Known before as Personnel Management, today we are talking of terms like Strategic Human Resources, Talent Management, and HR Intelligence among other terms. Are there any differences? Or is it just old wine in a new bottle? What are the current trends and what future predictions do we have in the evolution?

Or is it just in public places? All I know is, if I am sitting next to two people having a conversation two seats away, I can barely hear them, but a person half a room away on a cell phone is absolutely clear.

So it is possible that the shared conversation muffles the sound, but it seems to me that many cell phone users think their phone is an under amplified microphone.

KPAs, KPIs, Job Descriptions - and whatever other acronym you might be using, they all do the same thing - define the performance areas, describe the job, lay out objectives, success factors etc

You know what they are, you understand the job, you are delivering according to the requirements, but you have the impression that your boss is not really that happy with you.

It might just be that you don't understand your boss!

During my career, I have reported into a number of people with huge variations of management style.

This topic has been on my mind for the whole month of March based on the LinkedIn brief of the hottest positions in my industry.

It has to be a role in Analytics and Business Intelligence.

Security is a serious contender, too.

What else?

Web development is still in demand.

According to Robert Half, the positions with the most potential salary growth are:

  • Big Data Engineers
  • Mobile App Developers

The one thing we know in IT is that you need to constantly keep current with trends.

Irreconcilable differences are a common reason for divorce, and while there might be jokes around squeezing the toothpaste tube from the top or the bottom, it is a fact that the smallest things become huge issues in an incompatible relationship. (I have to admit that my husband of 34 years and I solved this one by using different brands for many years. Recently, he bought my current brand! Fireworks ahead…).
