Chantal Hillier from BASF is pleased she participated in the Johannesburg leg of the South African Payroll Association’s national conference in September. At the event Hillier was selected as the recipient of a two-year eLearning bursary to the value of R24 000 courtesy of Accsys, a national supplier of payroll, HR, Time & Attendance and Access Control solutions.
Accsys is a long standing member of the Payroll Association and has an established track record of support for skills development, training and recruitment within the payroll administration and HR industries. This is the 4th time this bursary has been awarded.
The annual sponsorship of an eLearning bursary to the executive committee managing the Association and organising the Conference is a significant aspect of this track record.
“Many industries and sectors continue to experience a shortage of skills sets. As a leader in the development and application of next-generation human resource and payroll management solutions, we have a vested interest in the development and introduction of critical skills in the market,” says Schroenn.
The company’s eLearning programme is a long-running initiative that is targeted at individuals who want to enter the profession and those that are already in the field. The main objective is to transfer critical skills sets and assist people to officially qualify in payroll administration.
“We have always advocated that corporate South Africa supports initiatives to develop key skills. Our viewpoint is that education is pivotal to socio-economic growth and should be placed at the top of the list of priorities in business. Key industries like human resource and payroll administration are dependent on fresh skills sets and on a reliable cycle of skills transfer and effective recruitment. This is where we believe we add value and where we see our role continuing,” she adds.
The bursary offers the winner, in this case Hillier, the opportunity to enroll within Accsys’ acclaimed eLearning program for a period of two years in order to acquire a SAQA-approved payroll qualification.
James McKerrell, Director and Chairman of the South African Payroll Association, says the organisation is indebted to Accsys for its regular annual contribution to the Conference.
“There is no doubt that any and every opportunity to gain sought-after skills sets is valuable. As an organisation that has been established to safeguard the interests of payroll professionals, we appreciate the sizeable donation that Accsys continues to provide. This donation has already helped many people to enhance their knowledge of the industry and the dynamics that make it flow,” says McKerrell.
Hillier was visibly thrilled to receive the bursary at the event and thanked Accsys management and the organisers of the Conference.
