Accsys takes a step forward for a healthier society
Sep52011
On 24 July management and staff from Accsys took to the streets in support of the 2011 Discovery 702 Walk the Talk initiative.
The annual event is organised to generate awareness and support for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation that champions the use of sport as a platform for social reform.
Discovery is the founder member of the South African arm of the Foundation.
The event took place at the Mark Park Sports Club in Emmarentia, Johannesburg, and attracted large crowds made up of individual, group and corporate participants.
One of the draw cards of Walk the Talk is the involvement of high profile 702 Talk Radio presenters, as well as celebrity Foundation ambassadors who include sporting icons such as Lucas Radebe, Shaun Pollock and Baby Jake Matlala.
This is Accsys’ sixth year of participation and strengthens its track record of consistent support for this event.
Walk the Talk is considered a significant part of the company’s broader corporate social investment programme. This programme also includes the Cell C Bring a Girl Child to Work Day and Accsys’ self-initiated Boys in Business Day, as well as ongoing support for the South African National Blood Service.
Teryl Schroenn, CEO at Accsys, is proud of those who participated and who, through their ongoing contribution, continue to represent the company’s dedication towards people development.
“This event is about doing something constructive to help improve the society in which we live. In South Africa sport is a unifier – it brings together people from all walks of life, from diverse backgrounds and cultures and unites them behind a common cause,” says Schroenn.
“We are in the business of people and business development through innovative solution development and application. We view our corporate social responsibility programme as a vital component of our operation and our participation in initiatives like Walk the Talk is used to strengthen our Programme,” adds Schroenn.
