Accsys, a member of the Business Connexion Group (BCX), has received an award for being one of The Top Gender Empowered Companies: Business, Education and Training Award, from Topco Media, publishers of Top Women.

The Johannesburg-based company is a national supplier of people management software and hardware solutions within the HR, payroll and time & attendance space.

According to a statement issued by management at Top Women, “your deserved award is testament to the amazing work you have done in your personal and private capacity towards the growth and development of South African polity, its economy, grassroots development and empowerment of all South Africa’s women.”

Teryl Schroenn, CEO of Accsys, says the company is proud of its ongoing contribution towards the education of South Africa’s labour force, especially in terms of the empowerment of women in the workplace through industry-recognised training and skills development in line with current market requirements.

The status of women in the workplace has improved significantly and it is widely accepted that women now hold leadership positions in operations across a number of industries, within both private and public sectors

Schroenn explains.

This is an ideal the company prioritised when it first entered the market over 30 years ago and a principle that Accsys management believes is central to South Africa’s socio-economic development.

“The country’s labour legislation and constitution makes reference to the important role that women play in a developing society. South African women are a powerful force in politics and commerce, and every day help to cement the goals of equality,” adds Schroenn.

The effort of the company to uphold the principle of gender equality in the workplace and encourage access to education, training and opportunities for skills development has been recognised throughout the HR and payroll industry.

Its list of accolades and achievements includes being identified as a finalist in the Achiever Awards: Best Training Programme: Medium-sized Company; a finalist in the National Business Awards across several categories including Investing in People, Innovation through Technology, Employer of the Year and Recognition of Social Responsibilities; and most recently the Boss of the Year and Top Women in Business, Training and Education.

In addition to the technical quality of its solutions and the reliability of its service, Accsys has been recognised for the calibre of its people.

“We attract and retain skilled professionals who have proven expertise and credentials that are unrivalled in the marketplace,” Schroenn explains.

Dr. Liam Terblanche, CIO of Accsys, was listed as a semi-finalist for the 2012 Boss of the Year Award and Teryl has also received industry-wide recognition by the Business Women’s Association (BWA) for her leadership.
