Accsys eLearning investment pays dividends for WesBank

WesBank, the leader in asset finance, continues to reinforce the skills of its employees through consistent results gained through its investment in the Accsys eLearnership program.

The financial institution has already placed seven of its employees on the course. Management refers to the recognition and accreditation of the Accsys Payroll qualification and believes this online learning facility falls very much in line with its policy on career development, skills retention and application.

“All training is linked to performance management - it is work related and takes into account the development plan for meeting business needs for today and tomorrow. Wesbank has embarked on using learnerships and skills development programs to upskill staff leading to recognised credits and qualifications. All the learning within the bank is outcomes based and linked to pre and post assessment,” says Khosi Matshitse, Executive Head, Human Resources, WesBank.

Accsys is a national supplier of payroll, HR, Time & Attendance and Access Control solutions. The company has entrenched a dominant market position and reaffirmed its commitment to skills development with the continued success of its eLearning program.

Teryl Schroenn, CEO at Accsys, says the initiative is gaining popularity within the broader market, driven by corporate focus on HR development, skills availability and job retention.

“These are critical influences, particularly if one considers the current economic climate. We have noticed a steady increase in awareness and interest in online or Internet-based learning, facilitated through and hosted by Accsys in order to promote the value of a recognised payroll qualification within the industry. We are very pleased to have WesBank as a partner in this initiative and we are confident the institution continues to benefit as a result,” says Schroenn.

Vasie Moodley, WesBank HR, and Leeann Sallie, Employee Relations Team Leader, WesBank, both feel the program has been of significant value and benefit to their roles within the institution.

“If I had to sum up this experience, I would say that this is a good program that requires a very mature approach with strong self discipline but allows you, the learner, the flexibility to plan appropriately and research material that empowers you as an individual and easily enables you to apply the learning in your work place,” says Moodley.

"The Accsys payroll Learnership has been a great learning tool in my career. It is very difficult to study when you have a little baby, but Accsys has made learning easy and fun. The system is easy to use and the deadline dates are very reasonable. There is always someone at hand at Accsys to assist and guide us. We are always given a chance to think over our answers and to re-submit which gives us a chance to score better. The facilitator is very understanding,” adds Sallie.
