Tax Season 2016
The filing season for individuals opened on Friday 1st July. Returns are due by 25th November for non-provisions tax payers. For provisional tax payers, using eFiling, returns are due by 31st January 2017.
Double Taxation Agreement with Lesotho
The 27th May 2016 saw the double taxation agreement between South Africa and the Kingdom of Lesotho come into force. This prevents the payment of double taxes, as well as evasion with regards taxes between the two countries. For more details, click here.
On 8th June the National Budget was presented by the Cabinet Secretary, and subsequently changes to the Finance Bill published. Tanzanian Tax Changes

Malawi Tax Changes
Following a comprehensive review of taxation in Malawi, the budget speech given in June announced a number of changes, including to levy heavy penalties on people and organisations who pay their taxes via cheque, and in cases where these cheques bounce. To see the budget speech, click here.
